Rhinebeck Arts to Launch at November 4 Community Event
Volunteer-led group aims to connect and celebrate Rhinebeck’s creative communityRHINEBECK, N.Y., October 21, 2026 — Rhinebeck Arts, a new volunteer-led group of residents dedicated to strengthening arts and culture in Rhinebeck, will host a free launch event (with cash bar) on Wednesday, November 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Rhinecellar, 47 East Market Street. The gathering will introduce the organization and invite residents, artists and venues to get involved. All are welcome.
Rhinebeck Arts’ mission is to strengthen the community’s creative life and bring people together around arts and culture as a central part of life in Rhinebeck. The group will also serve as a forum where local creatives can exchange ideas and share their work with fellow artists and arts lovers. Membership is free and open to all. Members receive a monthly newsletter featuring Rhinebeck cultural events and profiles of local artists, invitations to discussions, gatherings and performances at local venues, and opportunities to get involved in projects where artists and venues are seeking support.
“Rhinebeck has many committees in the Town and Village, but nothing representing arts and culture. We hope to fill that gap,” said founding member Mimi Joh-Carnella. “Art is a vital force in any community. By championing artists and opening doors to their work, we spark conversation and bring people together.”
“What we’re hearing from arts organizations and venues is that Rhinebeck has an extraordinary amount of creative energy,” said steering team member Mark Houghtaling. “The opportunity isn’t to reinvent what’s here, but to make it easier for people to find one another, share what they’re doing and build stronger connections across the community. That’s what Rhinebeck Arts aims to foster.”
Steering team member Jennifer Breslin added, “In talking with local creatives, we keep hearing the same thing: there’s a hunger for community, for learning and conversation, and for cultural events that bring people from across Rhinebeck together to make and enjoy art.”
